Not sure if ya’ll have seen this but the new Hopps Commercial is looking pretty fresh. We are very proud that we get to support a company like Hopps and we hope you enjoy their ride… Get into it. Seasons is very happy to welcome Scott back to the Shelter. We look forward to some great changes for the place….The edit at the bottom is in higher than HD quality so it might melt some eyes. Its an oldie but a goodie.

Under Old Management

My name is Scott Johnson; with the help of many friends, I was responsible for the creation, development and evolution of The Shelter Skatepark from 2003-2009. At the age of 30, I decided to move on from The Shelter Skatepark to focus on growing my painting business and to start a family. I did just that, and am now blessed with two amazing children, my beautiful wife Julie and a successful painting business.

The opportunity to once again own The Shelter Skatepark, and reconnect with many friends has presented itself to me and I have jumped on it. I am very excited to bring The Shelter Skatepark back to its former glory and continue to offer something positive to the skateboard and BMX scene in our area.

The skatepark business is a complex undertaking and can only be made possible by strong community involvement and support. After stepping away for almost a year, I understand this more now than ever.

I look forward to being a leader and guiding things in the right direction. This September we will be redesigning and rebuilding the skatepark to offer something fresh, and new for our loyal customers. Stay tuned for updates and information.

Every year people from coast to coast celebrate the U.S. Declaring its Independence from England. Fireworks, fried dough, lemonade, and beer flow freely around this great nation we call home. I asked someone the other day if they knew what this holiday was about, they responded like most everyone else does “Americas Birthday!” Shit, first thing I did when I woke up was said “Happy Birthday America!” In the skateboarding community it is also kind of a big deal, it’s the time that Keenan Milton passed away in 2001. To the average person they’d have no concept to Keenan’s contribution to the skateboarding world, what’s worse is that there are skateboarders that have no idea who Keenan Milton ever was or why people loved his skateboarding. I know I’m older and times have changed but even coming up when I did in the mid to late 90’s, I cared enough to know about why things were the way they were. So on this day every year I celebrate my Countries birthday, and I also celebrate Keenan Miltons life and what he did for skateboarding, I hope you’ll do the same.

Upstate New York has produced some top notch pros. Kenny Reed, Aaron Suski, Todd Jordan are the top three still going today but there were dudes all over the state that came up without the world knowing, Ben Wall, Sean Flaherty, Jim Young, Greg Lang, JP Gillespie and Sal Viglietta are just a few of my favorites. Dudes like Curtis Rapp, Dan Plunkett and Jake Donnelly are making at stab at it right now. Some choose to pursue it others just kinda sit back and just Skate. John Marshall has been that dude here in Albany for a long time. Just doing his thing and always shredding and putting his mark on the small city we call home.
